Principal Cloud Network Engineer

As a Principal Cloud Network Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the roadmapping and design of our foundational network technologies—Azure, A365, multi-cloud strategies. You’ll work with senior management, Product, Architecture, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure their technologies are measuring up to the needs of the firm. You will be tasked with POC function on any new technologies being introduced into our cloud network and on-prem and act as one of the technical leaders on the Network team. We seek a Principal Cloud Network Engineer with domain expertise and excellent interpersonal skills, as our positions rely heavily on communication with key stakeholders in both business and engineering realms. You'll be part of influencing a multi-year roadmap for delivering enterprise-grade network technologies.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the architecture, design, and quality assurance of cloud and on-prem network architectures
  • Tailor and implement network build out methodologies, best practices, and standards
  • Continuously improve performance, productivity, and execution of the software organization
  • Contribute to the architectural principles, patterns, and best practices that guide solution design and development
  • Evolve future-state cloud network architecture that supports business priorities, satisfies customer goals, and meets delivery objectives
  • Define governance process that reviews and monitors the design of new solutions and ensures cloud solutions comply with enterprise technology policies and standards
  • Mentor and develop the Engineering team and key members of the broader IT community to enhance their architecture perspective, skills, and experience
  • Work with peers from other business units and contribute to long-term technical strategies
  • Participate in leadership discussions regarding new technologies or enterprise system planning
  • Collaborate with vendors to provide enhancement solutions and establish a secure, effective, and efficient environment
  • The role must be involved in vendor management, contracts/understanding of licensing implications, contributor to budgetary/cost analysis conversations/process while creating scalable, repeatable, energy efficient HA solutions
  • Manage the backlog of work in a Scrum/Agile fashion
  • Monitor, alert, and log tools and build/release processes

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in network architecture methodologies, standards, practices, governance, and patterns
  • Experience performing design and implementation of enterprise solutions using a leading software and hardware platforms
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end network monitoring, high-uptime, and resiliency
  • Solid understanding of network security principals (e.g., Zero Trust Network) for enterprise systems
  • Experience with cloud practices, connectivity options, design, and implementation for all deployment models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS)
  • An advanced background with common automation tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Chef, and Ansible playbooks managing network infrastructure
  • Experience with F5 load balancing
  • The ability to lead knowledge of related industry specifications and standards, dynamic routing protocols, data center switching infrastructure, network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software-defined networking
  • Excellent understanding and experience with cloud governance at scale

Additional Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly-distributed, reliable, and secure global cloud-based network solutions and systems
  • Experience designing, ordering, installing, and maintaining public cloud connectivity, especially Azure
